Kings Lynn is a historic port on the River Great Ouse at the most southerly point of the Wash. An historic market town, with market days Tuesday and Saturdays (as are the towns two market places called) often referred to as Norfolk's second city. Kings Lynn has two Guildhalls both dating back to medieval times when Kings Lynn then Bishops Lynn was the main Hanseatic League port on the East Coast.
Kings Lynn is rich in historic architecture with the Southgate's Arch on the main entrance into town, Clifton Tower, the Customs House, Blackfriars Tower and the Red Mount are just a few places to see, along with Nelson Street, Queens Street and Kings Street area, often referred to and signposted The Old Town.
Since the reign of Queen Victoria Kings Lynn has enjoyed Royal Patronage, with their privately owned Christmas home Sandringham Estate, only being 5 to 6 miles away from Kings Lynn.
